Comments from Electors: |
1:
Mrs Blythe, representing the Dukes Arms expressed concerns that a
licence review requested by some local residents could cause loss of the
entertainment licence which would be severely detrimental to their
business. Over the past five years a regular client base had grown and
support for village events was a frequent occurrence. The business
provided a safe environment for families and was backed by a good
reputation. The representatives withdrew after making their statement.
2:
Councillors agreed that an entertainment licence was almost a
necessity in order to run such a business and as such this should be
supported. Councillors also agreed however, that operating outside of
the licence conditions could not be condoned. The Clerk reminded
Councillors that when the licence was last reviewed they had expressed
some concern over sound insulation in their response to East Northants
Council. (Minutes February 2005 para 23). Clerk was asked to respond to
ENC informing them of the necessity of a Licence for Village Public
Houses and that the ability to hold entertainment played a big part in
the business of the Duke’s Arms; drawing attention to the fact, however,
that operations outside of the licence conditions could not be condoned.
